February 6 - Climbing the Sleeping Giant

         Our goal for the morning was to hike up Nounou Mountain, or the Sleeping Giant.  It's a fairly prominent landmark when you leave Lihue and head north towards Kapa'a.

     It's a two mile trail that climbs around 1000 feet, and the views from the top are tremendous.

           The cloud shrouded peak is Mount Wai'ale'ale, arguably the rainiest spot on earth. 

As we neared the top, I took a photo of the giant's face. Take note of the comment posted on the photo.

Here, again, is Diana scaring her husband.

      You may think you know the reason why Diana is featured in more photos than I - because I'm the one carrying the camera, right?  That would be only partly true.  Take a look below:

We both just hiked the same trail.  Diana is as fresh as a daisy.  Me, I'm a sweaty, disheveled mess.  So ...
