We worked up a mighty appetite, so we went back to Life's a Beach (you'd think it was the only joint on Maui that serves both beer and food) for lunch. Then we drove to the airport and said goodbye to Lisa.
It was great getting to know Lisa. We had a lot of fun together, and will miss her. She was a good traveling companion.
Of course, parting was more difficult for Amy. She's know Lisa since Junior High and they have remained good friends. It was fun to hear stories about their wayward youth, and to get the lowdown on how Amy and Chris ended up together.
We left the airport and hiked up Waihee ridge, which overlooks Iao valley.
The only cab for miles around was already taken, so we had to walk.
Colorful trail marker.
Norfolk Island pines don't smell piney.
The view into Iao Valley
On the road back to Kula Treat. They call this part of Maui the Upcountry, a land of fog and clouds, green grass, flowers, farms and horses. It's quite lovely, and not immediately identifiable as being part of Hawaii.
Sunset from our Airbnb. I can't help myself.
I like the sunset photos. I've been looking at this blog so long that when I glanced up and out the window I was shocked to see all the snowy mountains and more snow falling all around me!
